Anne Portugal

Poetry reading:  Anne Portugal

February 18th   17.00–18.00

Judith E. Wilson Drama Studio, Faculty of English,

9 West Road, Cambridge CB3 9DP

The leading French poet Anne Portugal will be reading from her most recent book:

et comment nous voila moins epais (2017)

On this occasion she will be reading the first section of the text, la colocation–‘flatsharing’–which takes the form of a colloquy between two ‘flatmates’ who bear a close resemblance to St Jerome and his Lion…

Anne Portugal will read in French, while an English translation, worked out in collaboration with the author, will be read by Rod Mengham.

Brilliant, caustic, whimsical, always unpredictable, Portugal’s work offers an intellectual slalom at fast pace through all the idioms, tonalities and inadvertent symptoms of contemporary culture.
