First Nations Residency

The Cambridge Australia Scholarships First Nations Writer-in-Residence is a new fellowship program that offers a unique opportunity for an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander writer/storyteller working in any form (poetry, fiction, non-fiction, playwriting, criticism, and any other literary form) to spend a period of time at the University of Cambridge.

The program was initially launched in Michaelmas 2023. The inaugural awardee was Alison J Barton.

The residency is the result of a collaboration between the Cambridge Australia Scholarships (CAS), the First Nations Australia Writers Network (FNAWN), the Faculty of English, and Trinity Hall.

More information about the residency can be found here: https://www.cambridgeaustralia.org.au/first-nations-writer-in-residence.

In its inaugural year, Clare Hall was a partner of the project.
